Statistic Blooper

In the article "Damn Statistics: Top Five False Figures That Mean We Get The World Wrong", in Time magazine and talks about statistics that have been proven wrong and makes a big difference in the world. In the first one, the middle class of India was 300 Million people but it is estimated that it actually may be about 250 million by 2015. It was also said that one in 10 Americans had passports which proved wrong also because actually 37% have passports. These incorrect stats have raised concern and as said by the author, was probably made up to create a reaction.
